Your Wellness Lifestyle Starts Here

Noone likes change. Some things are easier than others. Like when they change the aisles around in the grocery store. It's frustrating. We knew where everything was and then they had to go and change it around. But we get used to it and move on. We have no control over the management of the grocery store.
My cats hate when I move furniture around in the living room. I need to make sure they are there when I do it. If not, they walk in the room disoriented and look at me as if I betrayed them. But they get used to it and move on.

"For things to change, YOU have to change."

But why is it so hard to change diet and lifestyle habits? Why does it take so long? We know what needs to be done, we just don't know how to do it. Our workshops and classes focus a lot on mindset and habit change. It doesn't happen all at once. It is something that we need to choose to happen. We need to learn the power of language-the way we speak to ourselves. We need to monitor our "chatter". Our self-talk reinforces our thoughts and behavior. Unlike the grocery store, WE have control over our lifestyle changes.  Everything we tell ourselves is true.
Dr. Caroline Leaf, a neuroscientist, says "Every time you delay, you reinforce the habit of delay. Every time you act, you reinforce the habit of action. You're always practicing something - make sure it's what you actually want to get better at."

What do we want to get better at? Serial dieting or maintaining a sustainable and accessible lifestyle habit? If you say you can't do it, then you can't.

"Success is a few simple disciplines, practiced every day. Failure is simply a few errors in judgement, repeated every day. The choice is yours." Jim Rohn

The choices are ours. WE choose. We are not helpless. The sooner we make those successful choices, the sooner we can make healthier adjustments.
